Slate

£0.00

The Lake District has a very important place in my heart. I have spent many years walking paths that have been carved by thousands of years revealing layers of slate rock strata. Slate in the Lake District is predominantly a green grey and when the pure air allows vibrant lichen to grown and live on the surface and contrast is stunning.

There are 28,000  known species of lichen and the colours vary enormously.  This piece is abstractly based on the strata of rock slates layers and stark vibrant contrast of lichen hues I have seen and enjoyed photographing for inspiration.
